nesting (back home)

I arrived home yesterday from our annual family beach trip, the sea water always seams to nourish my soul.






however wonderful time spent away, I am thankful to be home, ready to create in my studio and putter patter around my house.



once taken out of our element its quite obvious just how complacent we can become with our surroundings, retrials and creature comforts that is home.

Time was spent yesterday in my studio making up these demure framed word pendents...
I have been striving to merge my fabric art with my jewelry and I feel as if I have in these pieces.

Creating jewelry for good

Kristen Robinson Interviewed Kelly and myself about the process of creating
a charming exchange . you can read about it in

long before a single piece of jewelry for the book was created it was decided that we would be auctioning off the pieces with the proceeds going towards a cure for breast cancer.

The details for the auction for the jewelry from A charming exchange will be revealed on the Charming exchange blog (and here are well) on September 20th 2009.

please help us spread the word and share the news with your friends as over 30 pieces of jewelry from the book will be auctioned off and 100% of the profits will be going to Brest cancer research.

Do Not Hide

It has been a very busy summer of travel and work it seams that I have only been home a few days at a time before its time for me to hit the road once more.



my studio time over the last few months has added up to about 3 days. Case at hand this little dress:

She has been on a total of 4 different airplanes with me in hopes that I would complete the hand work that she needed. this at long last happened in Arizona when I was at art unraveled. I would like to thank Linda for hosting a fantastic advent along with her most kindhearted attendees!



The tug to spend some real time in my studio is strong however it will have to wait a few more weeks as I am at the beach with my family, flying kites basking in the sun.



attending bond fires at night roasting marshmallows. along with taking long walks on the beach picking up sea shells. and watching sun sets.



I have found it good for my creative soul to be away from my studio as new ideas have began to dance with in my head... I look forward to nesting at home and working some of them out within the months to come.

I believe that this little dress truly says it all:

we all get so caught up with life and work that oftentimes we lose track of the "little things" that make up the fabric of our life however we must try to never forget what our true passions are as we live this beauteous life.

Over 7 months ago I took part in Seth's Natural Evolution Disintegration project.
The idea was to see the toll that the natural elements would take upon combined papers placed outside over time.

Living in in Southern Californian like I do my papers really did not do much more then get dusty..



but what was really fun was that I started this project
because of Judy as I became intrigued with what she had done for it, and as luck had it she just happened to be with me for the last few days just before the completion of Seth's project so we collaborated and this is what we came up with.



Judy used Inks and pigments to alter a circular base

We then traced our hands onto the piece then I took it over to my sewing machine to highlight our hands and stitched the words:

"so as it begins"(my hand)
" it ends". (Judy's hand)

this little element of the two fabric ties attached to the red treed is a nod to the unity it took for judy and myself to create this piece.



I created and stitched down a pocket



To house a delightful book that Judy bound by hand.



Judy discovered this red acrylic paint skin on the bottom of my paint cup that I attached over the words: "we count the days"
