Prudence...

Well here she is...
My little Prudence.
she is about the size of a newborn at about 20 inches long.
I had some issues as to what I wanted her face to look like and in the end I went with a primitive Raggedy Anne type look, my thought was that she could have seasonal outfits.
I found that after over a 15 year hiatus as a doll maker that doll hair can no longer be found at my local craft shop so I had to improvise and craft her hair out of supper thick yarn.

and as you all well knew she was going to get a poetry dress all her own....

her dress reads:
“My mother says I must not pass, Too near that glass; She is afraid that I will see, A little witch that looks like me; With a red mouth to whisper low, The very thing I should not know”

I will fully admit that when I came up with her legs and high healed button up boots that I impressed my self a little... I would adore my very own pair of striped poetry tights!

And here you have Prudence all dressed up for the witching season!

If you would like to try your hand at doll creating you will find a very simple doll pattern in my my book "Layered, Tattered & Stitched".
Happy Creating!

Prudence,
Stay awawy from the glass. You are not a witch just a girl that kinda, sorta, looks like one. Well maybe for the month of October you can be a witch.

Hi Ruth
I recently bought your book to add to my collection. I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying it and how much inspiration it is giving me. After many years of not being able to stick to one thing it seems like I can happily combine them all - paper, sewing, basically any kind of mixed media.
Thanks for your beautiful work.

she is fabulous - and i loved all of the desk views leading up to her completion... amazing that you can create her, a dress for yourself and go into nesting mode... has that little witch got a spell for adding hours to the day?!

There I was surfing through Blogland when Prudence caught my eye! She is fabulous and so are your Blog. I couldn`t stop reading and spent forever in here although I really should have been getting back to work.... Didn`t quite finish reading so I will be back on my lunch hour.

Take care
Jeanette
